Weather conditions
The best time to visit (and the height of the tourist season) is between
November & February. The days are between 25 degrees c - 30 degrees c and
the nights can be as low as 5 degrees c, of course we provide a heap of
blankets to keep you warm.
What you need to take
Take sunscreen a hat and a jacket, maybe a good book and don't forget your camera.
You can book an extra camel for luggage if you need it, or we have safe
luggage storage available.
Getting there
For all of the safaris you will be picked up in Jaisalmer and driven by jeep
to the camel camp.
You can travel to Jaisalmer a few ways;
- Plane (if you are on the quick trip this is a great option, we will
pick you up from the airport).
- Train from Jodhpur 4 hours.
- Bus from Jodhpur 5.5 hours.
- Car - we can give you detailed instructions if you prefer to travel
straight to the camp.
We can pick up or drop off at any of these points or your hotel.
Once you are in Jaisalmer it takes about 40 minutes by jeep to the camel camp
which is the safari starting point. Jeep travel is included in the cost.
Routes
The following are our most popular safaris.
All safaris and camps, apart from Sam sunset are in unspoilt sand
dunes, if you are looking for some real desert beauty then this is the way
to go. Traditional lifestyle in the Kanoi desert is a memory that will
stay with you forever.
If you are looking for some serious sand dunes, Indian style, then we
recommend the Sam sunset.
There are many possible, if you have something in mind, tell us and
we will be more than happy to create a tour that works for you.
Sam sunset
This is an evening safari. You will be picked up in Jaisalmer then driven
via jeep to Sam, stopping along the way for sightseeing at Bada bagh and
Madura. You will then jump on a camel for a ride across the dunes for the
sunset. Then you will jump back in the jeep for the return to Jaisalmer.
This safari costs 350 rupees per person.
Overnight in Kanoi
1 night safari
This safari takes place in the Kanoi desert. You will be picked up by jeep
in Jaisalmer and travel out to the camel camp in Kanoi. You will then be
allocated camels and head off for an afternoon spent riding around the
dunes. You will stop for the spectacular sunset, sit back and relax. Then
it's time to eat dinner, and sleep on the dunes. In the morning you will
eat breakfast then saddle up for the morning safari. Then you head back to
Jaisalmer by jeep. This safari costs 500 rupees per person.
Jaisalmer
2 night safari
You will travel by jeep to the camel camp. The safari travels through
desert and villages to Jaisalmer. You will sleep one night in the desert
and one night at the deserted medieval village of Kuldera. Water is
provided with this safari and the cost is 900 rupees per person.
Any length
You can safari for up to three weeks in this area. A mixture of desert,
dunes and village safari is included. The cost per person per day is 450 rupees.
